The Civic Education Awareness Project is one of the key support programmes being rolled out to municipalities by the Public Participation Unit of the Western Cape Department of Local Government. 

The main objective of the project is to empower communities by raising awareness of their rights and responsibilities insofar as municipal decision-making processes are concerned.
