Update
GEORGE NEWS - The deadline for registering Spaza Shops, House Shops, and other Food Premises has been extended to 28 February 2025.
George Municipality urges all operators within the municipal area to complete their registration before the new deadline.
The registration drive is part of measures to address the recurring foodborne illnesses that have claimed the lives of at least 22 people, mostly children, across the country.

Who has to apply for a business licence:
- Sale or supply of meals or perishable foodstuffs
- Health Establishments
- Entertainment
- Hawking in meals or perishable foodstuffs
An application form must be completed, which can be obtained at the George Municipality, Department for Environmental Services situated at 82 Meade Street, George and at the Municipal Offices in Uniondale.
