Protesters at Civic Centre

Mayor Melvin Naik, flanke by police, on the steps of the Civic Centre.

GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - The protesters are now at the Civic Centre in York Street.

Here they will hand over a memorandum to George mayor, Melvin Naik.

There is a strong police presence at the handover.

Both lanes of York Street, driving in the direction of Unity Park, are closed.

Traffic officials are in place to assist flow of traffic.
