GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Premier Alan Winde delivered the 2026 State of the Province Address (SOPA) in George at the Conville Community Hall this evening, Wednesday 25 February, to mark the official opening of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament.
This year marks the sixth time that the Official Opening and the Premier’s State of the Province Address was hosted remotely.
"This year it’s the turn of the one district that has not hosted SOPA yet, the Garden Route. Our commitment to take parliament closer to the people of the Western Cape has come full circle,” said Speaker Daylin Mitchell.

Tomorrow, Thursday 26 February, will be the Debate on the State of the Province Address at 08:00 followed by the Reply by the Premier on the State of the Province Debate at 12:00.
