GEORGE NEWS - Members of the Southern Cape police clusters and pastors joined in a morning of worship and prayer last Friday on the National Prayer Day for police. The event was held at the Biker's Church in George.
Apostle Jannie Horne of Eagle's Nest Ministries said the church plays a crucial role in providing spiritual guidance to the police officials, who often have to deal with the dark side of life.
"The nature of their work can negatively impact on their psyche. The church has to hold their hands up high," said Horne.
The National Prayer Day forms part of Police Safety Month, annually held in September to increase safety awareness and highlight the challenge of attacks on police employees.
The prayer day focuses on police safety, prayer for the reduction of crime in general, domestic violence, suicide and gender-based violence.
