Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Fire authorities say the wildfire affecting parts of Mossel Bay is largely contained, with only the western flank still active in a hard-to-reach farming and kloof area near Aalwyndal.
The fire has been contained on the northern, eastern and southern flanks, including Island View, Aalwyndal and along the N2. The N2, which was closed last night between the Langeberg off-ramp in Voorbaai and Dana Bay, reopened at 16 minutes past five this morning.
Firefighting crews from Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management, together with the Garden Route District Municipality, remain on scene. Weather conditions, particularly wind, will be closely monitored throughout the day.
No structures are currently under threat. The fire is estimated to have affected an area of more than 12 square kilometres.
While damage assessments are still under way, authorities have confirmed that multiple structures, vehicles and other infrastructure were damaged.
No loss of life has been reported. Three firefighters were injured, with one admitted to hospital for smoke inhalation.
Residents who were evacuated last night have been allowed to return home.
Access control remains in place, and road closures may be reinstated if required for active firefighting operations.
