GEORGE NEWS - The Thembalethu police are investigating a murder case after the body of a 35-year old man was found in a house in Nqwemesha Street, Zone 9 on Tuesday morning 9 March.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, the deceased was found lying on the floor with several gunshot wounds to his chest, stomach and neck.
No one has been arrested yet and the motive is unknown at this stage.
In an unrelated incident on the same day in Bongo Street, also in Zone 9, the windscreen of a vehicle was hit during another shooting incident. The police are investigating a case of attempted murder after a gunman allegedly approached the suspect while he was reversing his car, a VW Polo, out of his yard.
"The assailant fired at least two shots at the driver but missed him and hit the windscreen of the car. The unknown suspect fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported," said Pojie.
He stated that the possibility of the two incidents being linked cannot be confirmed at this stage, but definitely forms part of the ongoing investigation.
