GEORGE NEWS - A 43-year-old man, Makosi Ngangalaza, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in the Thembalethu Regional Court on Friday 13 May for the murder of his wife, Sinovuyo (27).
On 30 November 2020 the couple had an altercation after Makosi accused her of having an affair.
Sinovuyo hid in the bathroom of their house in Teyise Street, Zone 9, where he shot her multiple times.
When police arrived at the scene just after 17:00, Makosi was in the front yard with a firearm and Sinovuyo's body was on the bathroom floor.
The weapon was confiscated and Ngangalaza was arrested on the spot.
During sentencing, Magistrate Ramelabana said that the punishment should fit the crime, but the court also took into consideration that the accused had already been in custody for the past year and a half, he showed remorse and was the only person taking care of a minor child.
