GEORGE NEWS - The George Police have opened an inquest docket following the death of Colin Groenewald (60), whose body was found in his rented house at 52 Protea Lane, Kleinkrantz, near Wilderness yesterday afternoon, Thursday 12 March.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Capt Malcolm Pojie, police were called out to the scene at about 17:30 yesterday after being contacted by concerned neighbours, who had gone to investigate at Groenewald’s house as they have not seen him in two weeks.
They detected an unpleasant odour coming from the house and phoned the police.
Upon arrival on the scene, the police found the partially decomposed body of the deceased in his bedroom.
“Circumstances around his death are being investigated as we await the result of the official post mortem. The preliminary report indicates that no foul play is suspected and that he died of natural causes,” said Pojie.
According to information that George Herald received, Groenewald was formerly a teacher at Rosemoor Primary. An acquaintance described him as a friendly person who got along well with other people. “He had a passion for life.”.
