GEORGE NEWS - A 26-year-old man from Uganda was arrested on Friday 7 January after 42kg of dagga with an estimated street value of R341 680 was found in his possession.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Capt Malcolm Pojie, members of the provincial traffic department pulled over a suspicious-looking Toyota Verso at about 16:00 on the N12 between George and Oudtshoorn.
The vehicle, with a CG registration number, was travelling in the direction of Oudtshoorn when it was pulled over.
The dagga, stashed in two big bags, as well as the vehicle, were confiscated as evidence.
The suspect's first court appearance was in the George Magistrate's Court on 10 January. He again appeared in court on Monday 17 January where he was granted bail of R5 000. His next court appearance is scheduled for 15 March.
