GEORGE NEWS - After eight years, the Life Christian Academy's first Grade R class (of 2016) finally graduated from primary school.
Life Community Services CEO Maryna de Vries said the journey was rocky at times.
"As a school we faced many challenges, storms, and injustices but with the help of the Lord we prevailed and overcame.
“As the years progressed we kept one Grade 7 class and did not add a second class due to financial restraints."
On 24 November, the 24 Grade 7s were taken to Redberry Farm for their farewell.
It was an exciting and wonderful time with the children enjoying a burger meal, train ride, go-cart ride and then the maize.
“We are super proud of their conduct, gratitude and overall behaviour. Our hearts are that they keep the life-skills and attitudes developed and imparted to them through the eight-year journey," said De Vries.
Amanda Stopforth, the Grade 7 teacher’s journey with the class started in August 2021.
She said, “For the past two and a half years, I have come to know each student well, and they have come to know me - the good and the bad. We have laughed, cried, been angry and frustrated together.
"The children have grown tremendously, as have I. Each one has made a lasting impact on my heart and on our school. They were part of all our trial-and-errors, being the first Gr 7 group to finish at LCA. They finished strong and will leave us with lovely memories.”
