GEORGE NEWS - Thembalethu police are investigating the cold-blooded murder of a local lawyer (47) in Makhaza Street, Zone 6, Thembalethu on Saturday 15 October. The police have not released the name of the victim yet.

According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, it is believed that there were two attackers. 

One of the men, who was carrying a firearm, opened fire on the victim at about 20:30 that evening before the two fled on foot.

When the police arrived on the scene they found the victim with several gunshot wounds to his head and body. He was declared dead by paramedics on the scene.

The motive for this killing is yet to be determined.

The deceased, whose identity is known to George Herald, but has not been officially released by the police, was also a former detective at the George police station.
