GEORGE NEWS - Police found a substantial amount of dagga stashed in the bottom compartments of a truck at a logistics business in the Tamsui industrial area earlier this morning, Thursday 27 October.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Capt Malcolm Pojie, police reacted on a tip-off from a member of the public, which led them to the find.
The driver of the truck ran away before the police arrived on the scene.
The dagga was confiscated and has to be weighed to determine the exact amount.
"An investigation is underway and big efforts are made to find the driver of the truck who ran away," said Pojie.
More information will follow as it becomes available.
Garden Route District Commissioner Maj-Gen Norman Modishana and Brigadier Nolan Michaels on the scene this morning.
The dagga was stashed in the bottom compartments of the truck.
