GEORGE NEWS - Learners from Kretzenshoop Primary recently had the privilege to visit the municipal water treatment facility in Denneoord.

The visit was in joint celebration of South African Library Week (17 to 23 March) and National Water Week (20 to 26 March).

Accompanied by officials form Blanco Library, the learners were shown around by the supervisor of the water purification operations, Melvin Koopman, on 14 March. 

The learners were taken through the facility to understand how raw water is treated and purified for safe consumption. 

They were also given practical tips on water conservation, and were told about the importance of responsible water usage. 

The group also visited the on-site laboratory, where they watched various water testing procedures and the instruments used to ensure water quality.
