GEORGE NEWS - Residents of Kingswood Golf Estate put their best feet – and paws – forward on Saturday 10 October, raising R4 300 for the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) during the estate’s inaugural Spring Fun Run and Walk.
Families, children and their four-legged companions took part in the event, which brought the community together for a morning of exercise and fundraising.
The money raised will support the PDSA’s animal welfare services, which provide veterinary care to animals whose owners cannot afford private treatment.
The non-profit organisation receives no government or municipal funding and relies on donations and sponsorships. Its services include vaccinations, sterilisations, surgical procedures, microchipping and treatment for various animal diseases.
Through its mobile clinics, the PDSA also reaches communities across the Garden Route, including areas between Mossel Bay, Riversdale, Herbertsdale and Sedgefield.

Following the fun run, participants enjoyed refreshments and a boerewors roll braai sponsored by La Famiglia, while Outeniqua Brew Company supplied beer.
Biokineticist Anine van der Westhuizen sponsored water bottles, while Netstar and Garden Route Flowers contributed prizes. Frontier Medix provided medical standby services.
The Kingswood Homeowners Association thanked participants, sponsors and supporters for helping make the first event a success.
