GEORGE NEWS - The Keep George Clean project is going strong thanks to a dedicated team working tirelessly in daily clean-up sessions in certain of the town's streets.
"From early morning sweeps to routine maintenance, we are committed to ensuring our community stays beautiful and tidy," says Charl Marais, owner of the Powervan, who initiated the project.
Their efforts started off as an initiative to clean up areas along the railway tracks through the town to the Outeniqua Mountain to improve the view for visitors riding in the Powervan.
"We cannot do this on our own. We need every Georgian's help and would love to see their own clean-up projects and efforts in their own neighbourhoods and workplaces.
"Whether it is picking up litter on your morning walk or organising a local clean-up event, every little bit helps," says Marais.
He invites residents to share their clean-up moments on social media and use the hashtag #KeepGeorgeClean.
"Let us inspire one another and show what we can accomplish together.
"Spread the word and encourage your friends and neighbours to like and follow the Keep George Clean Facebook page. The more we share, the more we can motivate others to join our cause."
Sparkling clean after the Keep George Clean team moved through this area on Saturday 21 September.
