GEORGE NEWS - The non-profit organisation Alive for Jesus is so touched by the work done by Kidstop in Borcherds that it has launched an outreach project for the benefit of Kidstop. This safe haven for 230 children keeps them off the streets through an aftercare programme, and it includes children who dropped out of school. It is a safe, fun and educational Christian-based facility.
Alive for Jesus has asked for the help of the community to make the outreach a success. "The mighty ocean is made of little drops of water," said Elmarie Malan, who runs the NPO with her husband, Izak. "We will from now on, up till December, receive donations and goods for this project."
The following goods are needed for an immediate outreach: clothing, shoes, toys and balls for ages three to 18. Drop items at 20 Varing Avenue, Dormehlsdrift on Fridays between 10:30 and 12:00. Bibles, couches, tables and board games are also much needed. A pool table at Kidstop also needs to be fixed.

Other items include a two-plate gas stove with gas cylinder for Kidstop's kitchen and a computer for Kidstop's office administrator.
In addition, building maintenance is urgently needed. Builders and contractors can contact Alive for Jesus to make a permanent difference at the facilities. The bathrooms need toilets and basins.
The eating and playing areas need wooden table tops and tiling and painting of the building is necessary. The roof needs repairs.
Lots of maintenance work is needed inside the Kidstop building.
Christmas outreach
The aim is to give each child a personal stationery and toiletry package, and a food parcel to take home. The community is also invited to join the Alive for Jesus team who will help with the preparation of a Christmas meal for the children and make food parcels for 200 families on 23 December.
These meals and parcels will be handed out on 24 December. Help is needed for this outreach, which includes playtime with the children.
