GEORGE NEWS - The festive season is upon us - a time that usually shows a spike in crime.
The George community police forum (CPF) appeals to all residents to help by getting involved with their local neighbourhood and/or farm watch.
"Each sector within George has a neighbourhood watch and there are numerous ways to be involved," says Rupert Pretorius, George CPF chairperson.
Ways to get involved
- Ensure you are on the dedicated neighbourhood watch WhatsApp group in your area.
- Be vigilant and report suspicious or illegal behaviour.
- Become an active patroller.
- Help with day and night patrolling within your area to prevent crime and ensure a safer area for all.
- Serve on the neighbourhood watch committee and assist during activities like clean-ups and various community projects.
- Be a sponsor or donate funds to the group.
- All neighbour-hood watch groups are non profitable entities that still need funds to help with mobilisation and fuel, equipment and even cameras within your area.
