GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - A simple walk down the street turned into a fitness journey for Hettie Langenhoven (60), now known as the "TikTok tannie" from Heather Park. And behind her transformation? Local fitness coach Herschelle Jantjies.
Herschelle, a longtime friend of Hettie’s daughter, Nelmarie, has been like family.
In January, during a visit, he casually asked, "So tannie Hettie, when are we going for a walk?"
At first, she laughed it off - after battling Covid-19, even standing was a struggle. But Herschelle’s persistence won, and soon she was walking at her own pace.
Nelmarie started recording their weekly walks, and when Herschelle shared a video on TikTok, it went viral. Suddenly, people were cheering her on, and a petrol attendant even recognised her as "the TikTok tannie."
What began as a hesitant stroll has become routine. Hettie has gained energy, mobility, and confidence. "I walked here by myself this morning," she proudly says.
Now, every tannie wants a Herschelle.
