GEORGE NEWS - Thembalethu Primary School held a celebration for Heritage Day on Friday 23 September, with teachers and learners wearing colourful outfits.
During the course of the day, groups of learners provided entertainment in the form of ingoma (music) and umxhentso (dance) celebrating their heritage.
The principal, BJ Tyesi, also gave the learners the opportunity to hold a market at school where they sold all kinds of traditional food such as umleqwa (free-range chicken), home-brewed ginger beer, home-baked bread, Amarhewu and roosterkoek.
Thembalethu Primary is in the process of raising funds and is looking forward to organising more activities in future.
