GEORGE NEWS - Seed International has been running a feeding programme in Thembalethu from Mondays to Thursdays where close to 500 children are being fed, says Richard Iga, the main driver behind the programme.
"We are assisting where we can, with the support of different stakeholders on board such as OBC Butchery in George, Pick n Pay, Kloppers, Pep Stores and the Garden Route Food Pantry," he says.
Their feeding project started a number of years ago. "Many children go to bed on an empty stomach so we as an organisation decided to put all our resources and effort into fighting hunger and poverty. We have a small garden where we grow some vegetables such as spinach and cabbage that are nutritious, but we depend on donations from the community to enable us to help the poor and we are appealing to local businesses and individuals for donations, which may be dropped off at the Thembalethu police station."
Help sow the seeds of love by also dropping off donations at the Seed International office at no 7 Marklaan Building in Market Street.
