GEORGE NEWS - Go George is joining hands with the Western Cape Department of Health in a special drive to support members of the public who want to get vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus.
For the month of December, two dedicated vaccination points will be set up at Go George transfer precincts between 08:00 and 16:00: at the Garden Route Mall on Saturdays, and at the George Transport Hub in Cradock Street on Wednesdays.
Persons who can show proof of vaccination with a sticker and a vaccination card displaying the same date can have a free trip home with the scheduled Go George bus service or the Western Cape Government's Red Dot Covid transport service.
Nadia Ferreira, district spokesperson for the Western Cape Health Department, reiterates that vaccination is a very important tool in our fight against Covid-19.
"Vaccination protects you from severe illness, hospitalisation and death from Covid-19. We appeal to the public to make use of this opportunity to get vaccinated," she says.
"Vaccinations are free, safe and quick. We remind the public that you still need to wear a mask, avoid crowds and confined indoor spaces and areas with poor ventilation, and to stay home if you are sick."
Go George manager James Robb says Go George welcomes the call of the national departments of Transport and Health to support vaccination efforts and is proud of the partnership with the Western Cape Department of Health and the Red Dot Covid transport service in this special effort to encourage vaccination.
