GEORGE NEWS - The Western Cape Minister of Transport, Bonginkosi Madikizela, announced in his State of the Province Address (Sopa) earlier this week that he will come to George and meet stakeholders and community members about the Go George matter.
The minister said he will be working together with the national Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, and that they are committed to solving the Go George impasse and rolling out the next phase.
"I met with the national Department of Transport this morning and agreed that we will go to George and meet all the stakeholders and community members to engage them in order to find each other and resolve their concerns. I am confident that we will soon be in a position to continue with the roll-out of additional phases," said Madikizela.
During his visit in June, Madikizela announced that the roll-out of Phase 4B which will service Conville, Parkdene, Ballotsview, Borcherds and Lawaaikamp would be implemented shortly.
However, this was followed by a number of unsuccessful attempts to secure a meeting with Mbalula. The two ministers finally met on Thursday 4 July in Pretoria.
No dates have been set for the two ministers' intended visit to George or for the roll-out.
