GEORGE NEWS - The incredible work done by a haven for children with special needs in George, Legacy Centre, has caught the eye of the national media and was featured on an actuality programme promoting autism awareness on SABC News on Saturday 13 July.
The innovative Legacy Centre, founded by Mariza van Deventer, stimulates and nurtures children with different challenges.
The individually crafted curriculum addresses the body, mind, life skills and communication needs of each child. The kids thrive on the time spent with music teacher Lasya Venter of Roots 4 Rhythm, who visits the centre twice a week.
Binah
The NPO Binah, an extension of the centre, was born three years ago to create better understanding and acceptance of children with special needs.
Binah is Hebrew for 'understanding', and the founders of Binah are all parents with intimate knowledge of special needs, as they all raise autistic boys themselves.
