GEORGE NEWS - Twelve learners from George High School who have been receiving tutorship in digital storytelling, illustrative design, and web design since September 2024, are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Seed4Africa National Hackathon.
For two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 and 12 March, Carmel Coastal Retreat will transform into a battleground of creativity and technical prowess.
Four teams of talented young individuals will compete for the ultimate prize: a coveted trip to Italy to represent South Africa at the International Hackathon in July.
The hackathon is a culmination of the EU-funded Seed4Africa Vocational Training in Agriculture project, implemented by Learning Academy Worldwide.
The organisation provides a unique opportunity for young people from rural communities to showcase their talent and potential.
The intensive training the learners have received has not only provided them with practical tools for the modern workforce, but has also nurtured a spirit of innovation and problem-solving.
The young innovators can demonstrate their mastery of these skills, tackling real-world challenges through creative digital solutions at the national hackathon.

Adding an international dimension to the event, guests from Italy, Kenya, and Benin will be present, offering insights and perspectives.
Regardless of who emerges as the winning team, the true victory of this project lies in the empowerment of these young individuals, who are now equipped with the skills and confidence to pursue their dreams.
