GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - It was a proud moment at the Southern Cape Police area office last Thursday, 10 November, when more than 20 police officers were promoted and received their epaulettes during a short ceremony.
In her congratulatory message to the members, Deputy District Commissioner Belinda Pather said the members were recognised for showing patience, persistence and perseverance.
She also reminded members to always act professionally, abide by the South African Police Service code of conduct, and act impartially and in a responsible manner.
Other high-ranking officers congratulated the promoted members in their speeches, reminding them to serve their communities with pride, integrity and accountability.
Common sentiments were that the promotion comes with great responsi-bility and that they should, at all times, honour what they do and show leadership to those behind them, for they also have assertive leaders and commanders.

While the Southern Cape Police have gained several members from other provinces, others are moving to other stations within George and the Southern Cape as they have been appointed in new posts, with the exception of provincial police spokesperson, Lt Col Malcolm Pojie, who is set to take up position at the Provincial Media Centre in Cape Town on 1 December.
The promotions came into effect on 1 November.
