GEORGE NEWS - An alleged local drug trafficker who has been on the run since 2015 was traced and arrested yesterday,12 October.
According to Zinzi Hani, a spokesperson for the Hawks, the suspect was arrested by the George Serious Organised Crime Investigation team (Hawks) at a property in Lower Main Road in Observatory near Cape Town.
Renaldo Francois Theron (42), along with other drug dealers allegedly involved in dealing in cannabis, were under Hawks radar.
The other dealers were arrested for dealing in drugs, but Theron however avoided arrest up until now for alleged possession of drugs worth R243 000.
Subsequent to his arrest yesterday, he appeared in the George Magistrate’s Court this morning, Thursday 13 October for a charge of possession of drugs.
The matter was postponed to 18 October for a formal bail application.
