GEORGE NEWS - Kholeka Mbaxa from Zone 5, Thembalethu, has a big, caring heart for children because they are so vulnerable.
Noticing little ones wandering alone in the street where she used to live touched her heart, and she began looking after other people's children.
That was in 2017. Since then, her outreach has grown into a full-blown crèche, Isinethemba (translated to 'we have hope'), where she, with the help of two educators, is currently caring for 30 children on weekdays, providing education for the foundation phase to Grade R.
Mbaxa wanted to expand on her family's property on which she was running the crèche, but this was not possible, so she took the children to her own home.
"It is difficult with all the children in a small space, especially in winter. I need to change the garage for extra space, but desperately need building materials," she says.
Mbaxa says she will welcome any second-hand sheets of corrugated iron, windows, doors or other building material to enable her to make the necessary improvements.
Educational toys and blankets will also be much appreciated.
Anyone who can help, or would like to visit Isinethemba, may phone Mbaxa on 079 082 3231.
