GEORGE NEWS - Before you can blink, it will be Christmas again. That is why Seven Passes Initiative is asking everyone to keep their eyes wide open and contribute a shoebox with lots of fun goodies as Christmas gifts for the ±300 children who regularly attend the programmes of the initiative.
What they need:
A shoebox - preferably painted or decorated - and inside the box the following items: toothbrush, toothpaste, face cloth, soap, small toy and a snack.
The toy and snack should be specified per age group and gender.
OR you can donate a shoebox worth R100 (or more) and Seven Passes Initiative will buy and stock the box.

Children receive support so they can do well in school.
A short history of Seven Passes on their website reads as follows:
The organisation was started in 2008 as a result of gang violence in this area. Farmers, business people from George and members of the Hoekwil and Touwsranten community came together to find a solution.
Farmers and community members decided that they needed to offer these youngsters support so that they can do well in school. Since 2008 we have grown our understanding of the effects of poverty, alcohol abuse and domestic violence on families in this community.
After 15 years we have the buy-in from the community and a very close relationship with the clinic, community members, parents and the schools.
And there is no more gang violence in this area.
The Seven Passes programmes offered to children the Touwsranten and Hoekwil area have been successful in eliminating gang violence in the community.
The children have opportunities to be creative.
