GEORGE NEWS - A 12-year-old boy is recovering in George Hospital after he was hit by a Toyota Hilux-bakkie in York Street yesterday afternoon, Thursday 29 August, shortly after 14:00.
Exact details surrounding the cause of the accident still have to be confirmed.
ER24 paramedics were on the scene swiftly. The child was stabilised and taken to hospital. He sustained a fractured humerus (upper arm) and scrape marks to his face and body.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies confirmed the accident and said George police opened a reckless and negligent driving docket following an incident.
"The cause of the incident is being investigated. The docket will be referred to the National Prosecuting Authority for a decision upon the conclusion of the police investigation," he said.
