GEORGE NEWS - Lifeguards at Herold's Bay had a busy afternoon on the beach, where at least five swimmers got into difficulty during two separate incidents.
In the first incident around 14:30, lifesavers rescued a teenage boy who fell ill while swimming in the tidal pool. The teenager was conscious and alert when he was transported to hospital.
Some time later, four swimmers had to be rescued after they got into difficulty in the surf zone.
All four were brought to safety and needed no further medical treatment.
