GEORGE NEWS - It's almost time for the third annual Big Walk by Binah. The non-profit organisation Binah will again raise awareness for autism during April, which is National Autism Awareness Month, by hosting this popular walk in the Garden Route Botanical Garden on Sunday 14 April at 16:00.
National Autism Awareness Month represents an excellent opportunity to promote autism awareness and autism acceptance and to draw attention to the tens of thousands facing an autism diagnosis each year.
Binah creates awareness for children with special needs so that society will better understand and accept them. The founder members themselves deal with the challenges families with special needs children face, as they raise their autistic sons.
More than 300 people enjoyed the 2018 Big Walk and this year the organisers hope that even more families will attend the walk and get the true sense of community while sharing their experiences with one another.
The theme of Autism Awareness Month is "Embrace Neurodiversity", as announced by Autism South Africa. Let's create a country where different ways of thinking, socialising and perspectives are not only accepted, but celebrated.
The Garden Route business sector is throwing its weight behind this awareness campaign together with national companies. Citadel Wealth Management and Pick n Pay national will again be on board. Dinner will be covered by Geronimo Spur, who will be grilling burgers for only R35 each and offering chips for R25.
Many vouchers and gifts will again be up for grabs! With the contributions of Tentco, Penguin Gas, Grain Care and Outeniqua Plastics the walk promises to be a great success. Due to the kind support of Interface by Goji PR and Events and the media partner, George Herald, the message of autism awareness will be spread extensively.
The organisers of the campaign are excited about the positive response they have received since they announced the third annual Big Walk.
The entrance fee is R50 per person and only R20 for children under 12. Everyone who finishes will receive a medal. Registering for the walk is now even easier - just click here.
