GEORGE NEWS - If you're eager to jump on stage, but don't want to sing and dance, this one's for you: Prepare a two- to three-minute monologue from any of the famous Russian Anton Chekhov’s plays, and show the panel of judges what you've got.
"This will give us insight into your ability to capture the style and depth of Chekhov’s characters; or choose one of the monologues using the link below," says creative director Quintin van Biljon.
The show
George Arts Theatre is shaking it's feathers to host another Tapas Theatre evening at the Arts, with a series of scenes from Chekhov’s most beloved works, capturing the essence of his dramatic genius.
"Chekhov Collection: Moments on Stage" will enrich theatre lovers and take them on an artistic journey through the intricacies of human emotion and interaction.
The audition
At the audition, participants will also perform a dry reading from selected scenes provided at the audition. "This will allow us to see how you interpret Chekhov’s work spontaneously," says Van Biljon.
The auditions will take place on 28 and 30 January, at 18:30, at the Arts Theatre in York Street. Participants need to be 16 years or older.
