GEORGE NEWS - The last in a special series of art talks will be held on Wednesday 31 August at the conference room of the George Civic Centre.
The topic is "Modes of modernism. Art of the now". This is a talk on how we should view art produced in the modern era.
These talks are presented in collabo-ration with the George Library, where books on the various art topics will be on display and available to the public.
The talk will last about 40 minutes plus discussion time. It will start at 11:00.
All are welcome and entrance is free.
The previous talk by Dr Brendan Cole on "A discourse on love and beauty" was an interesting discussion on interpreting a painting - how to understand what the artist is trying to tell you through the images he or she uses when creating a work of art.
Cole used Bronzino's Allegory with Venus and Cupid to illustrate his points.
