GEORGE NEWS - Conville police are investigating a murder after the body of an alleged robber was found next to the N2 near Borcherds on Friday 29 January.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Sgt Chris Spies, it is alleged that the deceased (26) robbed a construction worker who was on his way to work at approximately 06:00 that morning.
“The deceased then ran across the highway into the direction of Borcherds and took cover by hiding in the bushes adjacent to the footpath [next to the N2] whilst the owner of the bag and other workers chased after him. They somehow got hold of him and a fight allegedly broke out,” said Spies.
The man’s body, with multiple wounds, was later found by police officers and handed over to the forensic pathology services.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
