GEORGE NEWS - A mad hatter, a rabbit and a girl named Alice, along with many other colourful creatures, will grace the stage at the Arts Theatre in George this week, from Wednesday to Saturday, 19 to 22 October.
Dancers of the Abbi Geldenhuys Academy of Ballet (AGAB) have been on their toes for weeks to ensure a highly entertaining, well-rehearsed ballet performance of The Adventures of Alice.
For the gala evening on Saturday, the audience are encouraged to dress to the theme of Alice in Wonderland, with lucky draws and prizes for the best-dressed guest of the evening.
This is AGAB's first show of this magnitude since they opened the studio four years ago. "It has been such a magical journey, and everything is coming together with this show of ours," said dance teacher and studio owner Abbi Geldenhuys.
"My students have given heart and soul for this performance and we hope to make a difference to those who come to share our passion this week."
Show times are: Wednesday 19 October 18:30; Thursday 20 October 18:30; Friday 21 October 15:00 and 19:00; Saturday 22 October 15:00 and 19:00. Ticket prices are R120 adults, R80 children 12 years and younger. To book your tickets, contact Delphine on 078 727 9576.
A portion of the funds will go towards a dance bursary for one of the students, Cayden Bean, who has been granted a 40% bursary to participate in the American Academy of Ballet's Summer Intensive 2023 in New York.
