GEORGE NEWS - A Cape Town-based film company, Inqwelo Cinema, will be shooting a short action drama in George at the end of September.
The company will be working collaboratively with a local organisation called KM Creative. They are currently searching for local talent for five acting roles in the production.
"The individuals cast for the respective roles need to be from George or the greater Garden Route. However, we are open for anybody else who might be able to transport themselves to the George CBD as the film will be shot there," said Udy Obi, a local Nelson Mandela University student who is on the organising team.
"We have always sought to find and refine talent that would otherwise be lost in the rough and with the youth of George we want to do exactly that. KM Creative has worked with and supported a number of artists from George. The idea is to utilise local talent and provide the platform to express themselves.
"With this movie, we want aspiring actors and actresses that are driven and are ready to grab the opportunity with both hands."
The production will officially begin towards the end of September. The movie is to be marketed by Inqwelo Cinema and KM Creative.

"We want to gain maximum exposure in order to secure paying gigs for all parties involved, particularly the actors and actress," said Obi. "We are also exploring avenues of selling the movie for further redevelopment which will in turn be to the benefit of all parties involved."
Umona the aftermath was shot in Cape Town in October last year by the same crew currently working on a new project in George.

The characters to be cast are as follows:
- Jason - a coloured male; age 25 to 30, with athletic build
