The sponsorship was announced at a function at the George Airport last Friday.
The amount was handed to the NSRI for their valuable contribution towards providing a continued rescue expertise and service to the airports and the public in general.
ACSA has been a supporter of the NSRI for many years and has donated a 9 meter rescue boat in East London and a 5,5 meter boat in Wilderness near George. ACSA has also contributed to funding the running costs of the NSRI offices.
International aviation law recommends that all coastal airports within 10km from the coast have a sea rescue service. The NSRI undertakes this service with the help of volunteers.
"We will continue our support of the NSRI and to work closely with the NSRI teams in terms of training and hosting of regular emergency drills to ensure our readiness to perform should the need arise," Yvette Schoeman, AGM Operations of the Regional Airports said.

Full speed ahead - all the ACSA and NSRI stakeholders gathered for this photo after the official handover of the sponsorship.
