GEORGE NEWS - The class of 23 of Imizamo Yethu Secondary took to the red carpet amid a great atmosphere on Thursday afternoon, 28 September, to celebrate their matric farewell.
The Grade 12s showed off their beautiful outfits to a crowd of supporters at the school before a second session was held at Fancourt Hotel.
Akapheli Chicho was the first learner to step onto the red carpet. She told George Herald that it was a wonderful but overwhelming experience.
The level-headed young woman did not allow the glamour to make her forget about the final exams lying ahead, saying she is looking forward to the challenge.

Another learner, Monde Mthongwana, drew much attention when he stepped up to the stage carrying his little brother, Uzubenathi, and accompanied by his mother in Xhosa traditional attire.
