GEORGE NEWS & VIDEO - The Glenwood House School matric class of 2023 has made the school proud with an outstanding performance in their IEB (Independent Examination Board) matric exams, achieving a 100% pass rate.
Nicole Booyens, the top learner, achieved an average of 93,5% and nine distinctions. In a close second place is Ruan Lamprecht with 93,3% and eight distinctions.
A total of 98% of the 54 matriculants achieved a bachelor's degree pass and 2% a diploma pass.
Executive head of the school Desmond Zeelie congratulated the learners, saying, "Your exceptional results, with an average of 2,83 distinctions per candidate, and five students achieving 7 or more distinctions, are truly commendable.
"Special kudos to the two students, Nicole Booyens and Ruan Lamprecht, who each achieved an average of more than 90%. A heartfelt appreciation to every dedicated staff member for their invaluable contributions. Well done!"
Nicole will be studying at the University of Stellenbosch where she is enrolled for Biomedical Engineering and Engineering Mechanics and Ruan will be studying BCom Actuarial Science at Stellenbosch University.
Highlight of a 15-year school career at Glenwood
For Nicole and Ruan their matric year has been a true highlight of a 15-year school career at Glenwood. The two were in an amicable contest for the top place in their grade since being enrolled in Gr 000. Both said it takes dedication to stay in the top ranks, but it was all worth it.

Emiel Terblanche with his proud mom, Renate. Emiel is going to study industrial engineering at Stellenbosch University. He has been a learner at Glenwood since Grade 000 together with top two, Nicole and Ruan. Emiel said he is pleased with his results. He worked hard for his achievement. His brother, Ewan is enrolled in Gr 0 this year, also at Glenwood, and his sister, Renee
is in Gr 11.

Juné de Jager is going to study human life sciences at Stellenosch University. She said she did better than expected and is very pleased. “I will always have precious memories of my school career and won’t swop it for anything.”
Ella Corrigan is enrolled for a B Comm logistics and supply chain management degree, also at Stellenbosch. “I’m very satisfied with my results and am super excited. The 12 years of school have gone by so fast, I can’t believe I’m standing here with my matric results. My parents are really happy for me as they saw how hard I worked.”
