GEORGE NEWS - The Wildlife Crime Information Network (WCIN) is calling on volunteers to join its next anti-snare walk in the forest near Denneoord on Saturday 18 October.
Participants will help detect and remove illegal snares set by poachers, playing a direct role in protecting local wildlife.
The walk starts at 08:00 at the George Waterworks in 9th Avenue, Denneoord, and will take around two to three hours.
A R50 donation is requested, while children under 12 join for free. All funds raised will go towards veterinary services for injured wildlife.
“By joining the walk, you don’t just walk, you stand up against wildlife crime and become a guardian of our natural heritage,” says the WCIN’s Leon Rossouw.
Booking is essential. To join, send your details via WhatsApp to or contact 079 643 9556.
Volunteers will work together to scour the area for snares and raise awareness about the impact of snaring on local wildlife.
