GEORGE NEWS - George Police confirmed that a woman died in a vehicle accident in Hibernia Street on Saturday night, 20 December.
Southern Cape police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Chris Spies, said the incident happened at about 23:20.
“Preliminary reports available suggest that police were summoned to the scene after a vehicle was involved in an accident.
"Upon arrival the members found the woman with multiple injuries and a man with serious injuries. The woman was declared dead by paramedics on scene and the man taken to hospital for medical care.”
He said a culpable homicide docket was opened. “Circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation.”
The identity of the deceased is known to the George Herald, but a family member asked that their privacy be respected.
