GEORGE NEWS - People Against Substance Abuse (Pasa) recently received a much-needed car from local businessman Roelof van Dolderen, a long-standing supporter who has faithfully stood by the organisation since its inception in 2006.
“The vehicle will play a vital role in supporting Pasa’s mission and will be used to visit schools for the implementation of prevention and awareness programmes and transport individuals to rehabilitation facilities as needed,” said Freddy Trout, the organisation’s founder and CEO.
Van Dolderen also arranged for the car to be branded, which ensures visibility and awareness of Pasa wherever the car is driven.
“We are overjoyed. Pasa has been praying to and trusting the Lord for more than 10 years for a dedicated vehicle. During this time, we continued our work by using the staff’s personal vehicles to visit schools, implement our programmes and transport individuals in need of rehabilitation.
"Despite multiple fundraising efforts for buying a vehicle, this goal remained just out of our reach. This sponsorship truly came at the right time, and we will be forever grateful towards Roelof,” said Trout.
Van Dolderen had already made a commitment in 2024 to buy Pasa a vehicle, and in June last year, this was done. However, due to registration delays in Cape Town, the process was only finalised towards the end of July, and Pasa officially took possession of the vehicle in August.
