GEORGE NEWS - A special Post Cancer Treatment survivor workshop will be held at the Cancercare Oncology unit in George from 09:00 to 12:30 on 4 May.
This will be the first of three workshops to be hosted this year around these themes.
It is widely documented that the post-cancer treatment period is often stressful for patients and their families as they try to get back to their normal life.
Some manage easily, but many find it quite challenging to get their life back into a healing rhythm due to the fear of recurrence, general fatigue and often having to cope with a deep depression.
The workshops will provide helpful tools and information to empower cancer patients in adjusting to living with cancer as a chronic illness.
Some of the topics to be covered are:
• Adjusting to the “new normal”;
• Practical challenges in learning to live with cancer;
• Fear of recurrence;
• What does a healthy lifestyle mean;
• Dealing with long-term side effects.
Bookings can be done with Bernadine at Cancercare bernadine.thompson@cancercare.co.za or on 044 884 0806.
