GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality staff donated 120 packets of sanitary towels to the Keep a Girl in School project at Hope Church as part of the municipality's Mandela Day activities.
The municipality's staff newspaper initiated the collection of sanitary products from all departments and hopes to turn it into an ongoing project so it can continue to periodically contribute towards such initiatives.
The Keep a Girl in School project has branches across the country - the one at Hope Church currently distributes a cycle's supply of sanitary towels to girls each month at St Paul's Primary School and Heatherlands High School to ensure that they don't skip school because of their period.
