GEORGE NEWS & VIDEO - Lorraine Verhagen, chairman of Cansa Relay for Life George, has come up with a fun and innovative fund-raising concept: a purple toilet festooned with flowers. If the toilet lands up in front of your business, don't panic - it's a good sign. It's from a friend or company who has recognised that your hand is open to freely help the less fortunate.
"So when the flower-bedecked toilet finds its way to your business, it means that your company has been challenged by another company. It's now up to you to accept the challenge, pay the set amount and then challenge the next company," said Verhagen.
Once the money (R1 500) has been transferred into the Cansa bank account, the toilet will be removed from your premises and delivered to the company that you're challenging.
During the upcoming months, the purple toilet will be popping up at businesses all over George. All proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit next year's Cansa Relay For Life, which will take place on Saturday 23 February.

"Cancer can strike anyone at any time, and just like this toilet, it does not matter how important you are or how busy you are. One day it shows up and you have to deal with it," said Verhagen.
For the removal of the toilet or if you would like to send it to a business, e-mail Amelia Thiart at athiart@cansa.org.za or phone 044 874 4824.
