GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Fire season in the Garden Route is unofficially 365 days a year and with winter comes hot berg winds which are huge fire threats.
Despite the lessons that should have been learnt during the devastating Cape Town, Garden Route and Knysna fires, there is still so much uncertainty as to what laws apply.
How wide must a fire break be? Who pays for fire services after the first hour. Are we adequately insured? Etc etc…
The WRRA Fire Forum (a Wilderness Ratepayers & Residents Association’s umbrella body for the 7 Wilderness Fire Management Units), is holding a talk entitled “YOU, FIRE and the LAW” which will feature an introductory presentation followed by questions to be put to a panel of experts representing the George Fire Service, the Municipality, Southern Cape Fire Prevention Association, SANParks and an insurance broker.
The talk takes place at the Wilderness Hotel on Wednesday 26 May at 18:00 for 18:30. Due to Covid restrictions the audience is limited to 100 and masks will be mandatory. Entry is R10 for WRRA members, R20 for non-members.
