GEORGE NEWS - A talk about water, our precious resource, will be presented by aquatic ecosystem fundi Dr Jackie Dabrowski on Saturday 9 April. Dabrowski acquired her PhD at the University of Pretoria and worked in the UK and New Zealand while completing her studies.
She has worked at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), where her work covered a diverse array of topics including food webs, water quality, limnology, drought and fish health.
She led research projects, developed junior staff, published scientific and popular literature, and secured research funding.
She founded Confluent Environmental (Pty) Ltd in 2016 and has applied her knowledge to various environmental and water management processes such as environmental impact assessments, rehabilitation plans, and water use licence applications.
Passionate about fresh-water science, her personal maxim is to "promote the responsible stewardship of water resources".
The talk will follow after the Wessa Eden AGM, which is expected to be very short as there is nothing to report for the past year.
The talk and AGM will be held at the Environmental Education Centre in the Garden Route Botanical Garden at 10:00.
