Update: Top six in line for Youth Awards

GEORGE NEWS - Six finalists have been chosen to compete in the final round of the South Cape Youth of Excellence Awards competition, a project of Newdawn Development Forum.

The winner will be announced on 27 November at a gala evening hosted by Protea Hotel King George, the main sponsor of the event.
"We are very honoured to have the backing of such a renowned hotel group and to be associated with their brand," said Bronwyn Meyer, founder of the Youth Awards and marketing manager of Newdawn Development Forum.

Nominations were invited from candidates of George and Mossel Bay Municipal areas in the following categories:

Education
Social Development( including job creation)
Arts and Culture
Health and Science
Sport

The following six entrants impressed the judges the most, therefore qualifying them for the finals.

1. Janine Bruce – Project Manager of Womb to Tomb Development Centre.
2. Luretha Cronje – Film Producer/Director and Youth Mentor: Film Industry
3. Anelda Koen – Volunteer for Heavenly Haven Non-Profitable Organisation
4. Deidre Du Preez – Co-Founder of Zechariah Non-Profitable Organisation
5. Fumanekile Makuyekwe – Founder of the Grade 12 Mentorship Program
6. Sivuyile Adams – Founder of Phumelela Education and Awareness Foundation.
