GEORGE NEWS - Motorists who daily drive past the George Correctional Services are puzzled by the lack of gardening at some of the department's housing facilities.
The weeds are growing lush and plentiful while the lawns sure could do with some trimming.
In her response this week, departmental spokesperson for the Western Cape Candice van Reenen, said the Department of Correctional Services welcomes the recent rains experienced in the town of George over the festive season, especially since we live in a water-scarce country.
"This however also impacted on the rapid growth of grass on our vast terrain. The department has prioritised the upkeep of its premises since the return of its officials following the Christmas leave period. This has enabled the subsequent grass-cutting efforts on Monday 23 January."
Photos taken on Tuesday 31 January, however, indicate that officials might have missed a few spots.
